Hello again
Back in 2009, I started writing online under my own name by registering the @bendaubney Twitter account. I'd had an online presence before that, but anything I did was anonymous. I enjoyed being myself, and quickly found other places online where I could jot down a few words publicly.
Over 2016, that dropped off dramatically. I struggled to write anywhere, and my concerns about the information that Twitter gathers about its users made me all but shut down the account. I deleted some of my online text, and left others to wither with little to no explanation.
It's been odd. I'm no longer part of any real conversation that happens online, and as a result the conversations I have in private with friends - via email, or message, or telephone, or even real life - have been much more valuable. Still, I've missed having a place to occasionally log something interesting, a passing thought, a favourite song, a bit of market research insight, or something more substantial.
I'm still not really tweeting, but I've rekindled this website again. I've no idea how often I'll post something, but it's nice to feel that I can.
(I probably should write something about my favourite music from 2016, given that there's a record of my favourite albums dating back to 2010.)
