2018 music highlights - an introduction
Before the first advent window was open, I posted about my favourite album of 2018.
It was definitely the right call but there's no escaping the fact that the whole post was a bit of a downer. December's normally a month of celebration, highlighting all the good stuff from the past twelve months. I didn't do that. It's made me a bit sad.
There's been some really wonderful music this year. And the more I think about it, the sillier it seems to talk just about albums in 2018. Big artists release new tracks all the time and the oft-observed maxim that acts only make money from live shows nowadays means that albums aren't necessarily the be all and end all.
Over the next couple of weeks, I'd like to point to some wonderful musical... things from 2018. Gigs, tracks, experiences, and probably albums too. Moments that made my heart swell, songs that stopped me in my tracks, that sort of thing. Certainly things that I enjoyed some time ago and still love now!
